Kieran has PTHHWD

Well, after last Friday evening, Kieran is now suffering from PTHHWD (Post Traumatic Horton Hears a Who Disorder). I mean, it sounded like a great plan and all, watch a fun movie with the family, enjoy some Jim Carey humor, and call it a night. Who would have guessed that a movie about a civilization floating around inside a screaming speck on the brink of destruction, rescued by a bumbling elephant who subsequently receives death threats from the other forest inhabitants (including a buzzard that threatens to rip the flesh from his bones), would have given a two year old pause? Live and learn I guess...

All ended well, though we had to take a couple movie breaks to regain our composure. I did notice that during a couple "scary scenes," there was a progression of toddlers and parents heading for the exit door! I must say, though, it was a great movie, and Kieran is now able to laugh at the memory of Horton the elephant (and sing full voice with daddy the end song "I can't fight this feeling anymore").

Here is a YouTube clip of the last scene, which was hilarious!

Rice & Beans

One of Kieran's favorite dishes is rice and beans, especially Chipotle rice and beans! So the other day, on the way home from Kieran's babysitters, Kieran spotted Chipotle's out the window. "Please dad, can we stop and get some rice and beans, please!!!" Knowing that there was dinner at home and also wanting to teach Kieran some fiscal responsibility, I responded, "Well, rice and beans cost money, so we better go home and eat the dinner that is at our house." Kieran thought for a moment, then innocently responded, "Well, when we get some more money, maybe then we can have some rice and beans?" LOL! I can just see the astonishment when Kieran tells people that Daddy is trying to make more money so he can eat rice and beans!! I do applaud his problem solving skills though, an engineer in the making! ;)

Miss You Salma!

We had a lot of fun with Kieran's cousin Salma (Ken's niece), as she was visiting all last week. She left on the plan yesterday evening. Last night Kieran said that he would be flying to see her tomorrow! They are two peas in a pod, talkative, quick learners, opinionated, and full of energy! ;) The parents may take another week to recover!!

Here was one of the daily highlights, splash bath time!

I will be posting more pics of our trip to the Washington Zoo shortly.

Air & Space Museum

Today Kieran and I visited the Air & Space museum with the Doan boy's from our church. Here we are standing in front of the space shuttle, pretty cool!

Here is Kieran and his friend Keenan looking down on the shuttle (Kieran is on the right).

Kieran and Keenan sitting in the cockpit of a little airplane (Kieran on the right). I think they make good co-pilots!

Kieran and Keenan checking out the shuttle one last time.

We saw lots of other aircraft, was an amazing arrangement. I didn't take many pics as the boys were fired up by all the cool sights and really on the move!
