False Bottoms

One of the most bitter parts of depressive periods are what you might call "false bottoms." Places of descent that feel final, only to stare up wistfully at that place later on...

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity." -Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities

I have found that in my worst of times, looking back, there was much that was so very right and good. True, it doesn't do much to help in those other areas. But if you can find those bright spots now, it may make the interim a little more durable and meaningful.

Cheers.

Me too, Ken. Speaking for myself, the a-number one thing that got me through the deepest depressions was the relentless love and support of an awesome woman. You've got that too, thank God. Lean on Maranda, and lean on your friends, too. (And Maranda, lean on us too. It ain't easy.)

Peace, peace,
Croghan

Yeah, I've definately been there. You were a HUGE support to me during that time. You always listened to my crying about my felt meaninglessness of life, and had such an understanding expression on your face. Don't know where I'd be now if I didn't have you, Maranda and Bob during my dark times.

Let me know if there is any way I can support you...
